Darlington 10K is back this weekend, which means there are several road closures for locals to be aware of.
The event kicks off at 9am for the Fun Run, 9.45am for the Junior 3K and 10am for the 10K Road Run on Sunday, August 6.
There will be some road closures in place so that competitors don’t have to battle through traffic.

The following road closures will be in place:
- Coniscliffe Road (Entirely): Closed from West Street to Skinnergate from 6am to 1pm.
- Coniscliife Road (Entirely): Closed from Elm Ridge Roundabout to Skinnergate from 9am to 1pm.
- Carmel Road North (Southbound): Closed from Woodland Road to Conifscliffe Road from 9am to 1pm.
- Woodland Road (Outbound): Closed from Stanhope Road North to Staindrop Road from 9am to 1pm.
- Stanhope Road: Closed entirely from 9am to 1pm.
To allow access onto the sections of Carmel Road North and Woodland Road that are still open and other roads not affected by the event, enforcement officers will control traffic at the following junctions:
- Woodland Road/Milbank Road
- Carmel Road North/Milbank Riad
- Carmel Road North/Cleveland Terrace

The public may experience delays at these points and where possible, it is advised people don’t travel through town during these times.
For residents of Woodland Road (Outbound), Carmel Road North (Southbound), and Stanhope Road (entirely) there will be no vehicle access onto any of the closed sections of road from houses between 9am and 1pm.
If members of the public needs to exit their property between these hours, people are asked to park vehicles on one of the adjoining roads and exit via one of the control points or, where possible, make journeys outside of these hours.
For residents of Coniscliffe Road (entirely) there will be no vehicle access onto the closed road between 9am and 1pm and Darlington Borough Council suggests people need to make journeys, park on the adjoining roads on the south side of the road and exit down towards Blackwell Lane or where possible make your journey outside of these times.

From a safety point of view, the council is requesting that there are no vehicles parked on any of the above carriageways, to allow for safe passage for the participants.
For residents of Thornbury Rise, Highbury Road, Thornfield Road, Pine Grove, Emerson Court, and Ashcraft Road there will be no vehicle access onto any if the closed sections of road from properties between 9am and 1pm, although in practice people will be able to exit until 9am after which all the closure points will be operational.
For those you need to exit their properties between these hours, the council suggests people park vehicles on one of the adjoining roads and exit via one of the control points.
