A horse died and two drivers were taken to hospital after a crash in York last week.

A crash involved a VW Polo and a white Peugeot 3.5T Horse Box on the A19 near Escrick in York.

The incident happened just before 3pm on Friday, July 28.

Police are now appealing to the public for information and/or dashcam footage and witnesses are urged to get in touch as soon as possible.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “Were you a witness to this road traffic collision last Friday?  

“We're appealing for witnesses to come forward following a serious road traffic collision outside York.

“Just before 3pm on Friday 28 July, a dark-coloured VW Polo which was travelling south on the A19 near Escrick in York, was involved in a collision with a white Peugeot 3.5T Horse Box travelling north.

“Sadly, the horse died as a result of the collision and the drivers of both vehicles were taken to LGI where they are receiving treatment for their injuries.
