One reader, Dave Medd, recommended Yarm Road Fish and Chips in Darlington as a top-class choice.
Another reader, Kaaren Quigley, preferred Marshall in Tynemouth or The Adelaide in Benwell, Newcastle but emphasized that fish and chips were best enjoyed in a coastal area.

Paul Emerson recommended Quayside Chippy in Amble, while Mark Oxley simply said "Whitby." Malcolm Southam and Andrea Gipps both endorsed Bradley's in Northallerton, and Daniel Betts praised Cockerton Fisheries in Darlington.
