Police officers whose suspicions were aroused by a trail of bricks in the road followed the evidence and found they had spilled from an unsafe waste removal van.
Response officers in the Consett area of County Durham followed trail of debris until they caught ukp with a found a vehicle piled with bricks.
The driver was brought to book and the vehicle prevent from moving further until the load was safely removed.
In a tweet, Durham Roads and Armed Policing said: "Response officers at Consett followed a trail of bricks in the road and caught up with this waste removal van.
"The vehicle was piled with bricks which were completely insecure, the entire side panel was held on with a rachet strap, and the vehicle had numerous other defects.

"The vehicle was also 2260kg overweight.
"The driver was reported for offences and the vehicle prohibited from moving until the load was removed."
Durham Police were contacted for more information.
