Police have appealed for witnesses after youths were reported throwing missiles from a bridge over a North East motorway - including a brick that smashed through a driver's windscreen.
The incident happened at the bridge above Junction 11 of the A1 at Kenton Bar, in Newcastle, on Friday, July 7.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward after motorists travelling on the A1 had debris thrown at their vehicles.
"Shortly before 3.30am on Friday, July 7, we received several reports that pieces of brick and wood were being thrown by youths from a bridge above Junction 77 of the A1 at Kenton Bar, in Newcastle.

"One brick landed through a driver’s windscreen but thankfully no-one was left injured.
"Officers are investigating the incident and are calling on anyone who may have information regarding what happened to contact them."
