A supermarket forced to close after a devastating fire will reopen next month.
Iceland in Stanley had to close its doors after a fire on May 28 caused extensive damage to the store and building’s roof.
The frozen food chain said it would have to close the store while repairs were carried out. It has now confirmed the store will reopen on Thursday August 3.

Posting on social media the brand said: “I’m very happy to announce that we reopen on Thursday August 3, 2023.
“We can’t wait to be back ‘home’ and to welcome you all back into store.”
Staff were relocated to nearby stores while renovation work was carried out.

Four fire crews with raised ladders tackled the blaze for around four hours.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing smoke rising from the frozen goods store before emergency services arrived.
Police launched an investigation into the blaze and two 16-year-olds were initially arrested in connection with the incident back in June. The Northern Echo has contacted Durham Police for an update on the police investigation.
