Emergency services attended a house fire on a Darlington road earlier this morning.
Police and fire crews were on the scene after a house fire on Abbey Road in Darlington was reported at 5:10am on Wednesday (July 19).
County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service (CDDFRS) said four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and extinguished the fire.
They said the cause of the fire was accidental.

Simon Davison, station manager at County Durham & Darlington Fire & Rescue Service said: "On the 19th July 2023 at 5.10am we received a call to a house fire at Abbey Road, Darlington
"Appliances from Darlington and Bishop Auckland were mobilised. On arrival crews were faced with smoke issuing from the roof.
"The alarm was raised by a neighbour who called 999. The property was empty at the time of the fire.
"Four Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and extinguished the fire.

According to AA traffic maps, the road is closed as a result of the incident.
The Northern Echo have contacted Durham Police for more information on the incident.
