A man has tragically died after a two-car collision on a County Durham road early on Sunday morning (July 16), police have confirmed.
Durham Constabulary have today confirmed that a man has died after a collision on a rural road in Consett.

Emergency services were called to reports of a collision on Longedge Lane at the Junction of Butsfield Lane at 8:35am.
Involved in the crash was a Nissan Juke and Fiat Talento, but sadly the driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Fiat was taken to University Hospital of North Durham with minor injuries.
At the time of the incident, Durham Constabulary closed off the road to motorists whilst they dealt with the collision.
A statement read: "Officers are currently dealing with an RTC on Longedge Lane between Lanchester and Rowley. The surrounding roads are also closed."
