A man has been charged with theft, attempted theft, and inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent following two separate incidents.
The two incidents took place in Aldi in Thornaby on Saturday, May 6, and Tuesday, May 9.
An elderly woman was injured during one of the incidents and sustained a fractured wrist.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: “A 23-year-old man has been charged with theft, attempted theft and inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent following two incidents in Aldi in Thornaby on May 6 and May 9.
“During one of the incidents, an elderly woman was injured and sustained a fractured wrist.
“He has been remanded in police custody.”
