Five people have been taken to hospital after a crash between multiple vehicles closed a major North East A road last night (July 15).
The A19 southbound between Hylton and Pennywell was closed for a significant period whilst emergency services dealt with a collision between multiple vehicles after 8pm last night.
Following the crash, the ambulance service has confirmed that five people were taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital for treatment.

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of a multi-vehicle road traffic collision on the A19 shortly after 8.30pm last night.
”We dispatched four ambulance crews and a clinical team leader, and transported five patients to Sunderland Royal Hospital for further treatment.”
