One person has been arrested as a man remains in hospital in a serious condition following an alleged assault in a County Durham bar last night, police have revealed.
A man in his 50s was rushed to hospital following what police have described as a "serious assault" at Blake’s Sports Bar and Lounge, in Newton Aycliffe, shortly before 7pm, on Saturday, July 8.
Durham Police have confirmed at 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding and remains in custody.

Emergency services were called to Blakes Sports Bar and Lounge on Beveridge Road in Newton Aycliffe following reports of the 'incident'.
Police, ambulance crews and the air ambulance descended on the scene, with the North East Ambulance Service confirming that a man had been taken to James Cook Hospital in 'critical condition'.
Forensic officers were carrying out investigations at a County Durham pub until late in the night following the incident.

A Durham Police spokesperson said today (Sunday): "A man has been arrested following a serious assault at Blake’s Bar, in Newton Aycliffe, shortly before 7pm, on Saturday, July 8.
"A man in his 50s was injured and taken to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, where remains in serious condition.
"A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding and remains in custody.
"Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any mobile phone footage is asked to call Durham Constabulary on 101, quoting incident reference 489 of July 8."

Earlier, a North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said, "We received a call at 19:35 this evening (Saturday) to an incident at Blakes on Beveridge Road in Newton Aycliffe.
"We sent two emergency ambulance crews and the air ambulance and took one male patient to James Cook major trauma centre in a critical condition."
On social media, Blakes Sports Bar posted a statement confirming that it wouldn't be opening last night. The post read: "Due to unforeseen circumstances we won’t be open tonight. Sorry for the inconvenience."
