The farming world is set to gather once more at the Great Yorkshire Show, as a celebration of agriculture, food, farming and countryside is set to take over the showground in Harrogate.

Over four days, from July 11-14, there are expected to be around 140,000 people attending to see the best things about agriculture live in action.

Popular performer Lorenzo is set to “wow crowds” once again when he takes to the Main Ring each day during the week.

Cattle and sheep will be on the showground daily, with a variety of cooking classes, demonstrations and activities to get involved with.

Some icons from the industry who often appear on our TV screens for involving all things nature and animals will be making guest appearances.

The likes of Matt Baker, Andrew Henson and Peter Wright will be interviewed by Christine Talbot.

What’s on at the Great Yorkshire Showground 2023?

Tuesday

In the Main Ring there will be Ridden Hunters: Novices & Weights (HOYS), Ridden Hunter Championship, Lizzie Jones and The Yorkshire Volunteers Band, Lorenzo, Heavy Horse Singles and show jumping.

Presenter Christine Talbot will be speaking to TV farmer Adam Henson from BBC’s Countryfile on the GYS stage.

The Cattle Rings will have Beef Shorthorn National Show and classes, Longhorn National Show and classes, Native Beef Breed classes and Commercial Cattle classes.

For forestry lovers, you can have a go at a variety of wood crafts including turning, carving, marquetry and stick making.

There will also be beagles and harriers, rabbit displays and cheese and dairy judging shows.

Wednesday

Another day of exciting events to look out for at the Main Ring, including Irish Draught Ridden, Ladies Side Saddle (HOYS), Riding Horses (HOYS), Scurry – Small Ponies, the band and Lizzie Jones, show jumping, Heavy Horse Pairs, Scurry – Large Ponies, and Best Soldier Presentation.

Visitors can also expect sheep shearing, sheep dog trials, shoe making and an art show.

Thursday

On the third day of the Great Yorkshire Show, the Main Stage will present the Grand Cattle Parade and judging of Blythewood Dairy Pairs, Cock O’the North Show Jumping Competition and another appearance of the band and Lizzie Jones.

People can also see A Year in the Life of a Hound and equine classes such as Highland, Connemara, Welsh A, Welsh B, Welsh C, Welsh D, Heavy Horse Teams, Scurry Championship and In-Hand Supreme Championship.

Blue Peter legend Matt Baker will be joining the line-up on the GYS stage and will be available for a book signing.

There will be an egg show, flowers and horticulture including the Garden Show and working terriers.

Friday

The last day of the Great Yorkshire Show this year will see a closing ceremony on the Main Stage, as well as the Grand Cattle Parade and judging of Blythewood Beef Pairs.

For equine fans, you can watch Intermediate Show Riding Type (HOYS), Intermediate Show Hunter, Traditional Cobs, Heavy Horse Turnout Championship and The Pony Club Games Display.

Those attending can also enjoy hands-on family-friendly activities in the Discovery Zone, bloodhounds and draghounds.

On the GYS stage, there will be an interview with presenter Christine Talbot and Peter Wright from Channel 5’s The Yorkshire Vet, followed by a book signing.
