A popular North East sandwich shop has been forced to close its doors due to rising costs.
A spokesperson for EllyB's has announced on social media on Friday (June 23) the business would be closing, and cited "the continuing cost rise in stock and utilities" as the reason for the closure.
They thanked the community for 10 years of support and said they were delivering the news with "a heavy heart."
The business said the rising costs meant the venue could no longer afford to remain open.

A Ellyb's spokesperson said: "Just to let everyone know, it is with a heavy heart we will be giving the shop up on Friday 23rd June after having it for 10 years.
"We would like to thank all of our loyal customers and staff over years for your support, but unfortunately, due to the continuing cost rise in stock and utilities, we can no longer afford to run."
Residents reacted to the news of the closure with sadness and shock, and passed on their well wishes to the owners.
One resident said: "Sad news, good luck for the future."

Another frustrated resident said: "It’s all wrong, when good hardworking people can't make ends meet for themselves."
Meanwhile, another business owner said: "So sorry to hear, we are in the same predicament too and are closing next year after we have honoured all our commitments.
"You’re a lovely bunch of people and always gave your very best service with excellent food.
"Thank you. Good luck in whatever you do next."

EllyB's was established in 1995 and has been serving Hartlepool as a one-stop sandwich shop for decades.
The eatery served up sandwiches, baguettes, chips, fry-ups, pasta and burgers, and was loved by many in the town.
