There has been a big update ahead of Arctic Monkey’s headline slot at Glastonbury this evening (June 23).
Fans heading to one of the world’s most famous music festivals over the next few days feared the Sheffield band wouldn’t be performing on the Pyramid Stage due to frontman Alex Turner being diagnosed with acute laryngitis earlier in the week.
This forced the four-piece rock group to cancel their show in Marlay Park, Dublin, on Wednesday (June 21).
However, Glastonbury’s very own co-organiser Emily Eavis shared some good news on BBC Radio 2.

Will Arctic Monkeys be performing at Glastonbury tonight?
Broadcasting from the grounds of the festival at Worthy Farm, Zoe Ball asked during her BBC Radio 2 show if the band was still set to play, and Eavis replied “they’re on”, which was welcomed with applause.
“It was a little bit close there for a minute and we were thinking about whether we should have a serious back-up plan in place, but no, thankfully they’re on, so that’s great,” she added.
It will be the band’s third time headlining the festival after topping the bill in 2007 and 2013.
They will take to the stage from 10.15pm until 11.45pm, and for those not attending, their performance will be available to watch on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Rumours are circulating about the identities of the four guests joining Sir Elton John’s Glastonbury headline set on Sunday (June 25).
It comes after his husband, David Furnish spoke to Sky News about the 76-year-old singer-songwriter taking to the Pyramid Stage and confirmed he would be joined by a star-studded line-up.
Sir Elton previously said it would feature a different setlist from his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour and start with a song that he has not played in 10 years.
It's thought the likes of Britney Spears, Dua Lipa, Billy Joel, Harry Styles, Ed Sheeran and Taron Egerton could be among the secret acts.
