A Darlington school is cooperating with police who are trying to trace its former deputy head.

Officers appealed for students or staff who were at Polam Hall School in Darlington in 2000 to help them trace the teacher, who they believe to be a potential witness.

The deputy head is believed to have been called Mrs Taylor, police said on Tuesday.

Now Polam Hall has confirmed it is cooperating with police to assist their inquiries.

School principal Kate Reid told the Echo: “The school are liaising with the police to assist in their investigation.”

In a statement police in Darlington Police said: “We are appealing for your help in trying to contact a potential witness as part of an ongoing investigation.

“Detectives are looking to speak with the school’s former deputy head teacher who worked at the school around the year 2000.

“She is believed to have been called Mrs Taylor.

“Officers have exhausted all other means of trying to trace her and are now appealing for the public’s help.”

The nature of the investigation is not yet known.
