An award-winning artist has seen continued growth following a series of significant investments.

Lucy Pittaway continues to invest in herself, as well as taking steps towards future diversification.

In spring last year, the business underwent a substantial project to expand its production, logistics and shipping capacity from its North Yorkshire head office.

This project included building a 3,300sq ft dedicated warehouse facility, adding an extra 1,000sq ft of production space and creating additional office space, photography suite and electric vehicle charging points.

The recent acquisition of specialist equipment, stock and skilled staff from Wensleydale Galleries is another valuable addition to expanding the core business offer and in-house services. Wensleydale Galleries bring with them decades of experience in framing, restoration, and conservation as they were absorbed into the Lucy Pittaway brand from March 2023.

The Northern Echo: Lucy In her office

Andy Richardson, formerly of Wensleydale Galleries, said: “Having worked closely with Lucy for almost 14 years years, I've come to understand the level of quality she looks for in her supplier chain, and with our 30 years' experience in creating hand-crafted picture frames for artists, commercial clients and the general public, it was the natural step for us to combine our services.”

Lucy said: “We are excited to be able to offer a new range of bespoke framing services from our Brompton-on-Swale Gallery. I have worked with Wensleydale Galleries for many years in framing my own artwork so bringing their expert craftsmanship in-house was the natural next step for our business meaning we can offer bespoke picture framing for fine art originals, photos, needle work, mirrors and made-to-measure memorabilia.

"Andy brings with him a nationwide reputation for excellence, and we are thrilled to include it under the Lucy Pittaway brand.”

Further adding to the expansion of the physical footprint of the head office, production capacity was increased with additional investment in new equipment allowing the business to bring the process of capturing original artwork in-house using Hi-Resolution Contact Free Scanning via the WideTEK36 Art Fine Art Scanner now sitting alongside an additional second printer enabling the business to double their printing capacity.
