A disgraced teacher who kissed a pupil on the cheek, bought her cigarettes and met her in his car outside school time has been banned from the classroom.

Ezar Kahn, 48, was teaching at a Tyne and Wear school in 2018 when he acted unprofessionally and in a sexual nature towards the vulnerable girl who was under 16 at the time.

He admitted to meeting the girl, known as pupil A as she cannot be named for legal reasons, outside school hours on more than one occasion – in his car and at a local shop.

The ‘man-bun wearing’ teacher also kissed her on the cheek, bought her cigarettes and gave her his clothing to wear.

A witness who saw the kiss outside the school building reportedly exclaimed: “I can’t believe what I’ve just seen”.

When challenged by his school about providing the cigarettes he said he returned them to her at the end of the school day, when in fact he had provided them to her.

He later admitted his actions were sexually motivated.

He also engaged in an internet chatroom where he performed a sex act over a picture of a young child aged between four and five, and again over another child aged around 14 to 15.

In March 2018 he was arrested and interviewed about the allegations involving Pupil A. His computer was later seized by the police, and he was interviewed in respect of images found on his computer.

During a police interview, he confirmed he took six explicit images officers found on his computer at the request of another user on the adult chatroom. Khan denied having a sexual interest in children and stated that the images were not taken to cause anyone offence, alarm or distress.

In January 2020 the police and CPS decided no further action was needed in respect of any of the allegations.

A report into a misconduct hearing published last week concluded Mr Khan’s actions amounted to “serious” misconduct and fell “significantly short” of the standards expected of a teacher.

A panel decided that Khan should be banned from teaching indefinitely.

It means he will not be allowed to teach in any school, sixth form college, youth accommodation or children’s home in England. Due to the seriousness of his actions, he will not be allowed to apply to be allowed back in the classroom.
