Police have arrested a driver that tried to evade them at 70mph across fields and footpaths before colliding with a bollard.
Officers from Durham Police were driving through Bishop Auckland on Leazes Lane on Saturday (June 10) at around 8pm, when they spotted a suspicious vehicle.
When instructed to pull over, the Volkswagen Golf attempted to make off, driving over fields and footpaths at up to speeds of 70mph before colliding with a bollard in Woodhouse Lane.

The occupants of the vehicle jumped out of the car and ran into a nearby housing estate but were chased by officers who managed to detain and arrest the driver.
A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failure to stop, possession of a controlled drug, and driving without a licence or insurance.
He has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.
The vehicle was seized at the scene.
