An appeal has been launched after a man was allegedly assaulted and left with various injuries yesterday.

Cleveland Police are appealing for more information after a man in his 20s suffered injuries to his face, arm, legs and body following an alleged assault in the Portrack and Tilery area of Stockton on Sunday (June 11).

The incident involved an unknown male using some kind of weapon in the attack which took place on the Black Path shortly before 1pm

They confirmed the man had been taken to hospital for injuries not believed to be life-threatening, and still remains there.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "A 20-year-old man sustained serious injuries to his face, arm, legs and body after the assault by an unknown male using some kind of weapon in the attack which took place on the Black Path shortly before 1pm.

"The victim was taken to hospital where he’s still receiving treatment. His injuries are not currently believed to be life threatening.

"Scene of Crime officers attended the location of the attack yesterday and other lines of enquiry are underway."

The suspect is believed to have been wearing a pink or red top, and possibly shorts.
