A woman has been taken to hospital with serious injuries and a man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an incident in Darlington.
Emergency services attended Ridsdale Street in the town at around 10.15am following reports of an assault.
The Great North Air Ambulance was sent to the scene - with the emergency services confirming that a woman was taken to hospital via road ambulance with serious injuries.

A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and an investigation has been launched.
County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service have also confirmed that they were required at the scene this morning to deal with a fire.

Yes - a woman in her 30s has been taken to James Cook Hospital with serious injuries where she remains at this time.
Has anyone been arrested?
Yes - a man, 33, was arrested on suspciion of attempted murder.

“We were called to reports of a disturbance at an address in Ridsdale Street, Darlington, shortly after 10am, this morning (Thursday).
“A woman in her 30s sustained serious injuries and was taken to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, for treatment.
“A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He is currently receiving treatment in hospital.

“An investigation is ongoing, but we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
“Anyone with any information is asked to call Durham Constabulary on 101, quoting incident reference 101 of June 8.”
Great North Air Ambulance
"Our critical care team was activated at 10.17am to reports of an assault in Darlington.
"We had two doctors and a paramedic on board our aircraft and they arrived on scene at 10.21am.
"Our team worked alongside the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) to assess and treat a patient and they were taken to hospital by the NEAS road crew, accompanied by our team."
County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service
"Fire crews were called at 10:50am to reports of a fire in Ridsdale Street, Darlington.
"Two appliances from Darlington, and Newton Aycliffe attended the incident. Our crews extinguished the fire within the property and left the scene shortly after 1pm.”
North East Ambulance Service
“We received a call shortly after 10am this morning (Thursday 8 June) to reports of an incident at a private address in Darlington.
"We dispatched two ambulance crews, one duty officer, one rapid response paramedic, one specialist paramedic, and requested additional support from our colleagues at the Great North Air Ambulance Service.
"We were also supported by our colleagues at Durham Constabulary and County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service.
"Two patients were taken to hospital by road for further treatment.”
