Crime scene investigators have been at the scene of a stabbing that has left one man in hospital, two men arrested and the road near a County Durham school blood stained.
Emergency services were called to The Crescent in Nettlesworth at around 4.45am this morning following reports of a serious assault.
Police arrived on the scene after a call from the North East Ambulance Service.
After officers arrived in Nettlesworth, they found a man in his 30s that had sustained stab wounds.

He was taken to Newcastle Royal Victoria Infirmary for treatment.
Durham Police have also confirmed that two people were arrested in connection with the incident.
A spokesperson said: "We were called by colleagues at the North East Ambulance Service to reports of a serious assault in The Crescent, Nettlesworth, at around 4.45am this morning.
"The victim, a man in his 30s, sustained stab wounds to his arms and was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle for treatment.
"Officers arrested two men in their 30s on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. They were taken into custody where they remain today.
"An investigation has been launched and a cordon remains in place this morning whilst officers gather evidence.
"Anyone with information should call 101 quoting incident reference number 36 of June 5."
It's unknown at this time about the condition of the man that was taken to Newcastle RVI - but the North East Amabulance Service has issued a statement.
A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: "We were called just after 4.30 this morning to a person injured in Nettlesworth, Chester-le-Street. We dispatched two double crewed ambulances, a clinical team leader and requested support from Great North Air Ambulance's medical car."
"One patient was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary with a doctor on board."
On Monday, crime scene investigators have been on the scene and a police cordon has been in place.
Blood stains could also be seen on the ground next to a school, while some officers were seen near grass area close to The Crescent.
The local school, Nettlesworth Primary School was closed on Monday - but it's been confirmed that it will reopen as normal on Tuesday.
Headteacher Donna Lee said: “Due to the ongoing police incident outside of the school we made the decision to remain closed today.
"All children have been provided with remote learning activities and it is hoped we will be open as normal tomorrow."
