Police are appealing for information following a fatal road traffic collision that saw a mobility scooter rider in his 80s pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers from Durham Police attended the A689 at around 7pm on Saturday (June 3) following reports of a collision between a Ford Turneo minibus at the junction connecting Heather View Leisure Park.
Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the mobility scooter rider, a man in his 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
An investigation is underway to establish the circumstances of the collision and officers would like anyone who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch.
They would particularly like to hear from anyone with dashcam footage of the mobility scooter rider who had been travelling along Stanhope Front Street just before the collision.
