The North East Ambulance service has launched a drive for new recruits to join its ever-expanding team – and here’s how you can apply.

Roles from call handling to being a Paramedic on the front line of care are available as the North East Ambulance Service extends an invitation to those interested to attend a recruitment day.

Taking place on June 10, attendees can find out if they have what it takes to join the team at the Education Centre on Dukesway in Team Valley.

On the day, jobs that will be highlighted include:

  • Health advisor (call handler) 111/999
  • Senior Clinical Advisor Nurse/Paramedic
  • Advanced Practitioner Nurse/Paramedic
  • Ambulance care assistant
  • Clinical care assistant
  • Paramedic

Director of people and development at North East Ambulance Service, Karen O’Brien, has emphasised the importance of the trust’s staff that cares for anyone from Berwick to North Yorkshire.

She said: “As an organisation that provides such fantastic services to every part of the North East, we are always on the lookout for people from Redcar to Rothbury, Bishop to Berwick, and everywhere in-between to join our service.

“From school and university leavers to those looking for a change in career, we’re excited to be able to offer this recruitment event as an opportunity for you to find out more about our operational roles.

“Whether you’re interested in taking calls that come through 999, 111 or our clinical advice teams, or would love a career working out on the road with patients, we have so many opportunities for people to find a career within the NHS. We look forward to seeing you very soon.”

The service, that covers an area of over 3,000 miles, recently featured on the hit BBC documentary Ambulance, following workers on jobs across the region.

This equates to caring for over 2.6 million people, making the service one of the largest in the country.
