Tractors and diggers day in Darlington kicked off a schedule of free summer fun in the town today (Tuesday, May 30), with hundreds of families turning out to get a slice of the action.
Lloyd Ltd, a machinery and agriculture firm, brought tractors and diggers up to the town from their site in Bishop Auckland for the inaugural ‘Tractor Tuesday’.

A brilliant day out for “mini-machine enthusiasts”, there were tractors and diggers galore in the town, with ride-on tractors, photo opportunities, ice cream and crafts all on the cards.

Alongside tractors and diggers day, Darlington Borough Council will be hosting a range of special events during the school holidays.
This includes Tracks Tuesdays, craft activities on Wednesdays and Film Fridays, all set to take place in the Market Place.
Tracks Tuesdays, organised with Tracks Darlington, will see live acoustic performances on the stage in the town centre and Film Friday, sponsored by Darlington College, will include screenings of family favourites including Frozen, sing-a-long Mamma Mia and Hairspray in the Market Place.

Every Wednesday there will be free children’s craft sessions to keep the little ones entertained.
Alex Nicholson, town centre partnership and events manager said: “Alongside our big annual events, Darlington by the sea, Pride and the 10k road race, these extra free activities will provide something different for the whole family.
“I hope people will come together with family and friends to enjoy everything.
