A large fire broke out near a popular Darlington gym yesterday as fire crews worked into the night to extinguish the blaze.
Fire services could be seen attending a large property fire on Haughton Road, Darlington on Friday evening (May 26).
The incident saw flames and plumes of smoke coming from the building, with eyewitnesses saying the blaze could be seen from across Darlington.

The incident took place near Bannatyne gym.
Meanwhile, some eyewitnesses reported seeing ash falling over nearby streets.
In an image sent to the echo, the smoke and fire could be seen from Darlington cricket pitch.
Pictures of the aftermath showed the blackened and burnt building being attended to by the fire service.
