The Department for Work and Pensions has revealed the number of people in the North East and across the UK who are eligible to receive a £301 cost of living payment in 2023/24.
The three-part payment follows the £650 cost of living payment that was made to over eight million people in 2022 to support those struggling to pay bills and cope with rising food prices.
Disabled people will also be eligible for an extra £150 payment with pensioners also due to receive an extra £300 later this year.
Here’s a list of exactly how many households are eligible where you are for the payments by constituency.
In the North East, statistics reveal that 395,000 households are eligible to recieve the payout, with the total number of recipients across the country currently standing at over eight million.
To be eligible, recipients must currently be recieving:
- Universal Credit
- Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Income Support
- Working Tax Credit
- Child Tax Credit
- Pension Credit
Payments began on April 25 of this year, with the last day of payments expected to be May 17.
Following this, those eligible will recieve £300 during autumn of this year 2023 to be followed by a £299 payment during spring 2024.
