A teenage boy was shot with a BB gun while walking in Stockton last week, and police are now appealing to the public for information.

The 15-year-old was walking with a woman along High Newsham Road near the junction of Dinsdale Road in Hardwick, Stockton, on Friday, May 5.

The incident occurred between 5pm and 6pm when a red saloon car, which may have been an Audi A4 or a Skoda Octavia, drove past the boy.

Someone in the car fired the air rifle and hit the boy in his back, leaving him injured.

The weapon was described as having a 6-8 inch long barrel which was orange at the end.

Officers from Cleveland Police are now appealing to the public to come forward with any information relating to the incident that could help with their enquiries.

A spokesperson from Cleveland Police said: “The 15-year-old boy was walking with a woman along High Newham Road near the junction of Dinsdale Road in Hardwick, Stockton, between 5pm and 6pm on Friday 5th May.

“A red saloon car - possibly an Audi A4 or a Skoda Octavia - drove past the boy and someone from within the car fired the air rifle, hitting him in his back.

“The weapon was described as having a 6-8inch long barrel with orange at the end.

“Enquiries are on-going and officers would appeal for any witnesses, anyone with information, or any drivers with dashcam footage to contact Cleveland Police via the 101 number.  Please quote ref 085764.
