Local election results across the North East will be announced throughout the day on Friday (May 5).
Voters took to the polls yesterday (May 4) to elect councillors across the region.
While some results have been announced overnight, some councils do not begin counting until this morning.

North Tyneside, Redcar & Cleveland and Stockton will all be announced this afternoon.
All eyes will be on Darlington where the Conservatives will be hoping to cling onto power despite devastating losses elsewhere in the region.
In Hartlepool the Tories, who won the Parliamentary seat in 2021, suffered a major blow as Labour swept to being just two votes from power.
And on Tyneside and Wearside Labour held on to its control of Newcastle, Sunderland and South Tyneside Councils.

Results announced on Friday could change the dynamic of politics in the Tees Valley and on the region’s combined authority, and signpost the popularity of each of the major parties ahead of the next General Election.

Gateshead -12:30
North Tyneside -13:00
Darlington -15:00
Middlesbrough -15:00
Redcar and Cleveland -16:00
Stockton -17:00
