Figures have revealed the North East postcodes with the most terrible drivers.
More than 100,000 drivers across the region have points on their licence, roughly 6.5% of about 1,640,000 licence holders.
And of those more than 25,000 people have racked up more than six points, 1.6% of all drivers in the region.

The stats, from the Department of Transport, also reveal how many drivers in each postcode area have points on their licence.
Drivers in the DL1 area of Darlington are the worst in the region, with 647 licence holders having six or more points on their licence.
They are closely followed by those in the DH06 area where there are 576 drivers carrying six or more points, and the DH08 area where 564 motorists have landed penalty points.

Meanwhile 10.9% of all drivers in the NE17 region of Chopwell have points on their licence, a greater proportion of all drivers in the area than anywhere else in the North East.
More than 10% of licence holders in the TS01, DH08, NE04, DL12, and SR08 areas have points on their licence.

- DL1 - 647 drivers with more than six points - 2.39% of all licence holders
- DH6 - 576 drivers with more than six points - 2.49% of all licence holders
- DH1 - 564 drivers with more than six points - 2.18% of all licence holders
- DL3 - 557 drivers with more than six points - 2.00% of all licence holders
- NE4 - 527 drivers with more than six points - 3.52% of all licence holders
- SR8 - 509 drivers with more than six points - 2.62% of all licence holders
- NE5 - 507 drivers with more than six points - 1.93% of all licence holders
- DL14 - 505 drivers with more than six points - 2.12% of all licence holders
- DH9 - 503 drivers with more than six points - 2.36% of all licence holders
- DH7 - 491 drivers with more than six points - 1.78% of all licence holders
