Adrenaline junkies flocked to Croft Circuit just outside Darlington today for a stunt driving experience.
The Northern Echo headed down to Croft Circuit near Dalton-on-Tees today (Sunday, April 30) to experience driving with Top Gear stunt driver Paul Swift.
The seven-times British Motorsport champion and former Guinness World Record holder from Darlington, along with his experienced stunt driving team, provided an afternoon of amazing entertainment.
The rain didn’t dampen down the excitement of the day as the group watched each other experience the stunts from inside the car.

The experience of being sat in the passenger seats for these stunts was similar to being on a rollercoaster, and it’s definitely not something I’ll forget in a hurry.
Prior to the first stunt I was to experience, Paul said: “It’s a bit wetter than I was expecting so it might make it very slippy.
“The weather’s bad so we won’t be breaking any world records today, but it’s tight enough for a wet day in North Yorkshire!”
Stunts included a J-turn stunt, where the car reversing quickly in a straight line, then turns the wheel sharply while using a brake to lock the front wheels.

Another fun stunt was driving on two wheels, or ‘skiing,’ and of course, the ultra-tight handbrake park between two cars.
Everyone looked elated after each stunt, the novelty never seemed to wear off for spectators and participants, and it was clear that the drivers all genuinely loved what they did.
Paul and his team have also performed stunts for Top Gear, 5th Gear, Emmerdale, The Gadget Show and more.
The Paul Swift Stunt Driving Experience puts on these events at Croft Circuit, The Northern Echo Arena, and Silverstone throughout the year. Visit paulswift.com for more information.
