Aer Lingus took off with a new route from Newcastle Airport on Friday (April 28) connecting the city with Belfast City Airport.
The new daily service took off on Friday evening, connecting passengers to the airport just three miles from Belfast City Centre.
Last month the Irish flag-carrier also increased the number of flights from Newcastle to Dublin from five times a week to daily from March 27.

Chris Ion, Aviation Development Manager at Newcastle International Airport said: “We are pleased to welcome Aer Lingus Regional’s daily service between Newcastle and Belfast City Airport.
“This investment provides convenient and flexible access to the heart of Belfast, as well as increasing opportunities for the attraction of inbound tourists to the North East of England.’’
Ciarán Smith, Head of Commercial at Emerald Airlines, which operates the flights on behalf of Aer Lingus, added: “Already servicing the popular Newcastle – Dublin route, we are very pleased to be adding to our Newcastle schedule, with the introduction of this new route to Belfast.

The airline jumped on the news that Flybe had fallen into administration back in February when it announced the new route just days later.
The new flights are the latest additions to the departure board at Newcastle Airport. LoganAir announced new flights to Oslo back in January, starting this summer.
And Greek airline AEGEAN will fly to Athens and Turkish carrier SunExpress will fly to Antalya throughout the summer holiday season.
