A man has been taken to hospital and two people have been arrested after an incident on a North East street.

A man, 18, has been taken to James Cook University Hospital after being injured with a bladed weapon in an incident on Queensland Road in Hartlepool today (April 28).

Cleveland Police said they were called to the area at 4pm, while a man,40 and woman, 40 have been arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent.

The two remain in custody and enquiries are ongoing.

The man suffered injuries which are not believed to be life threatening at this time.

Air ambulance colleagues attended the scene but the man was taken to hospital by road ambulance.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "Police were called to an incident on Queensland Road, Hartlepool, around 4pm today whereby an 18-year-old man had been injured with a bladed weapon.

"The man was taken to James Cook University Hospital with injuries which are not believed to be life threatening at this time.

"Air ambulance colleagues attended the scene but the man was taken to hospital by road ambulance.

"A man aged 40 and a woman aged 40 have been arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent and they remain in police custody.

"Enquiries are ongoing."

A NEAS spokesperson said, "We received a call at 15:56 to an incident on Queensland Road, Hartlepool. 

"We sent the air ambulance and and emergency ambulance crew and transported one male patient by road to James Cook hospital with support from the doctor on board."
