International law firm Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD) is teaming up with Lloyds Bank and the Department for Business and Trade to host the Tees Valley Place and Exporting event at the Riverside Stadium, Middlesbrough, on May 23.
The event will cover key areas that are vital to the region's success in the coming years including Teesside's role as a net zero leader, its exporting strength, major infrastructure projects and the impact of the freeport.
A mix of panel and interactive sessions covering topics including net zero, placemaking, funding international trade and exporting on a global scale will take place with panellists from organisations including PD Ports, The Net Zero Industry Innovation Centre, Tees Valley Combined Authority and Nova Pangaea. A number of other speakers are still to be confirmed and will be announced in due course.
Peter Snaith, UK partner and head of manufacturing and the Teesside practice at WBD, commented: "We are delighted to be collaborating with Lloyds Bank and the Department for Business and Trade to bring this event to Middlesbrough. Teesside is one of the most economically active regions in the UK and is well positioned to become a leader in the UK's journey to net zero.
"We all have a role to play in connecting our industries with the resources and support they need to enhance their productivity and sustainability, and we look forward to discussing how we can boost regional capacity, attract inward investment, and tackle the regeneration of our towns."
In late January, WBD expanded its presence in Teesside, moving into a larger office at the Wilton Centre adjacent to the Wilton Industrial site, one of the key areas comprising Teesside's industrial cluster and part of the Teesside freeport.
Natalie Boswell, Regional Development Director at Lloyds Bank, added: "Lloyds Bank is proud to sponsor the Tees Valley Place & Exporting Expo, showcasing the great local businesses and people of Teesside and the North East, and providing a platform to inform and inspire others.
"Achieving Net Zero is critical to securing a more sustainable future for everyone. At Lloyds Bank, we recognise that we have an important part to play to help deliver this transition. We’re backing local businesses that are creating world-beating green-technologies and investing in low-carbon infrastructure to help deliver a greener, cleaner future and deliver productivity and growth opportunities for our region.
"By working with the people and organisations to create positive change, we’re by the side of business to use finance to stimulate investment and help Britain prosper."
