SCENES in a popular television series will be filmed in the centre of town.
The thirteenth series of the acclaimed ITV drama series Vera will feature scenes filmed in and around Hexham.
The television series stars Brenda Blethyn as the title character DCI Vera Stanhope.
A letter was posted to Hexham residents and business owners, notifying them of the filming scheduled to take place.
"We are hoping to use Hexham as the main location for the first episode. There are several businesses we are in contact with to organise filming on their premises, we also plan to film on the streets and roads around Market Place on our visit.
"The scenes will mainly be filmed around Market Place and St Mary's Chare.
"We have been working closely with Northumberland County Council and Highways team to make our filming happen and to obtain the necessary permits to put in place a road control on our filming days."
The letter said another update will be posted in the next few weeks containing filming dates, times and movements.
It said efforts are being made to protect staff and the public from the risk of Covid.
Safety measures have been put in place to keep the production running, including regular testing of the crew and cast and portable handwash and sanitising stations.
ITV was contacted for comment.
