A 21-year-old man has been left hospitalised after being hit by a car found burnt out a short time later.
An altercation had broken out in the early hours of Sunday (April 23) morning on Lowthian Road in Hartlepool when the incident occurred.
Two vehicles arrived at the scene, one is believed to be a dark coloured 4x4 and one a blue or grey Ford Focus.

The Ford struck the 21-year-old and was then driven from the scene.
It was found burnt out a short time later in Colwyn Road.
The man was taken to hospital at University Hospital North Tees where he remains receiving treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police have now launched an investigation into the incident.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: “Detectives from Hartlepool CID are appealing for information/dashcam or other footage after a man was injured during an incident in Hartlepool.”
“Enquiries are underway and we would appeal for anyone who can assist to contact Cleveland Police on the 101 number quoting ref 076549.
“If you don’t want to speak to police you can pass information anonymously to Crimestoppers or phone them on 0800 555 111”
