A North Yorkshire sausage factory is to be featured on the popular BBC show Inside the Factory, which sees presenter and professional foodie Greg Wallace tour factory locations across the world.
Bedale-based HECK! Food is the star of the show on a special vegan Inside the Factory programme. The Yorkshire sausage manufacturers exploded onto the scene in 2013, and turn out more than 90,000 vegan sausages each day.
On his visit, Gregg was guided through the process of creating delicious vegan sausages by HECK’s very own sausage scientist, Calum Smith, who revealed some of the secrets behind the best bite for its bangers.
This comes only weeks after the closed Vale of Mowbray pork pie factory, in Leeming Bar, was featured on the show.

It was Gregg’s second visit to HECK! HQ. In 2018, he saw how the company's popular 97 per cent pork sausages are made.
This time, Gregg followed the company’s vegan sausages down the line. The programme also explores the secret of how you get the best bite for a vegan sausage, using ground-breaking seaweed science.
Gregg harvested fresh crops from HECK!’s ground-breaking vertical farm, which is trialling different types of leafy vegetables, grown under carefully controlled heat and lighting, as part of the company’s journey to zero carbon.
This type of vegetable production decreases air miles and the use of water, whilst still being able to grow vegetables without added fertilisers.

“It was great to see Gregg again,” says Calum. “We work hard to get every aspect of the sausage perfect in every way and our “bite” test is effectively a really scientific way to check the expected snap the sausage delivers.”
Watch BBC Inside The Factory on BBC TV 2 on Tuesday, April 25, repeated on April 29 and then available on BBC iPlayer.
A special limited-edition box of HECK! vegan sausages will also be available on the online shop.
