One of the most legendary food and drink names in the region has been honoured with a King’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade.

Best known for Yorkshire Tea and Taylors Coffee, as well as its Bettys Café Tea Rooms, Bettys & Taylors of Harrogate is one of four companies in the Yorkshire and Humber region to receive the accolade for its outstanding growth in overseas markets in the last six years.

As the nation celebrates National Tea Day, the award recognises the work of the International team at Taylors of Harrogate in delivering impressive growth in overseas markets and for its commitment to long-term relationships with international partners and distributors.

In 2017, Taylors of Harrogate was represented in 28 countries and today the range is sold in 49 markets, including USA, Australia, Canada, China and Italy. The International team has trebled in size and the entire speciality tea range has been redesigned with 14 new products added as part of the updates to meet a range of consumer needs and tastes across new markets.

The business has also invested in increased production and additional equipment and machinery at its manufacturing facility in Harrogate.

We have overcome challenges such as successfully delivering the adaptation of our packaging in advance of Brexit, not to mention the difficulties presented by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Formerly The Queen’s Award for Enterprise, the Award has been renamed following the Accession of King Charles III. The King’s Awards for Enterprise celebrate outstanding achievement by UK businesses and are internationally recognised. The winners are selected under strict judging criteria, against significant competition. The Awards are made each year by the King, on the advice of the Prime Minister and his panel of judges and are valid for five years.
