A woman has died from her injuries a week after an incident on a North East street.
Cleveland Police confirmed on Saturday (April 15) that 44-year-old Laura Metcalfe, the victim of the incident that took place in Brougham Terrace, Hartlepool on Friday, April 7 had died from her injuries.
Officers from the police force have confirmed that a murder investigation is now underway.
Emergency services were called to Brougham Terrace, Hartlepool, just after 8pm on April 7 - where they took the victim to James Cook University Hospital with life threatening injuries.
At the time, two women, both aged 44, and a 41-year-old male have been arrested in connection with the incident.
Cleveland Police said that Laura Metcalfe’s family is being supported by specialist officers and Cleveland Police’s thoughts are with them at this very difficult time.
Superintendent Martin Hopps, District Commander for Hartlepool, said: “Cleveland Police would like to reassure the public that this is an isolated incident and there are no wider tensions within the community.
"Police will remain in the area conducting reassurance patrols and anyone with information is encouraged to speak with officers or contact the Major Enquiry Team by calling 101.”
