Police have released an image of a woman who they believe may be able with their enquires regarding an incident involving theft.

Bank cards were stolen from a vehicle in Gateshead and were later used to purchase items.

A bag containing bank cards and a coat was stolen from a locked vehicle in Bensham on Saturday, September 17, 2022.

The cards were subsequently used to buy items from a garage and to pay for a taxi journey.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: “Officers have released an image of a woman they wish to speak to after bank cards were stolen from a vehicle in Gateshead and then later used to buy items.

“Police received a report that at about 6am on Saturday, September 17, 2022, a bag containing bank cards and a coat were stolen from a locked vehicle on Dunsmuir Grove, in Bensham.

“The cards were then used to purchase a number of items from a nearby garage and also pay for a taxi journey.

“Officers have today (Tuesday) released an image of a woman they’d like to speak to in connection with the theft.

“She was in the area at the time the stolen bank cards were used to purchase items and it is believed she may be able to assist them with their enquiries.
