Emergency services were on the scene after a fire broke out at a popular North East fish and chip shop.
Cleveland Fire Brigade (CFB) have confirmed they received a report of a fire at Verrills Fish Shop in Hartlepool shortly before 5am this morning (April 8).
They confirmed two appliances from Hartlepool Fire Station attended the incident.

Meanwhile, they also said the rear stock room had sustained fire and smoke damage.
A CFB spokesperson said the fire service deployed two breathing apparatus, one hose reel, and positive pressure ventilation (PPV).
They said the last appliance left the property at 6:10am after extinguishing the fire.

Adding to this, ice cream shop Sprinkle, also on Hartlepool High Street, announced they would be closed due to the fire today.
The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) confirmed they had not been called to the incident.
The Northern Echo have contacted Cleveland Police for more information on the incident.
