Crime scene investigators are carrying out forensic examinations in a North East street where a man died and a second was arrested.

Emergency services were called to Oakrise, in Ormesby, Middlesbrough, last night at around 7pm.

Cleveland Police, which is investigating, confirmed a 54-year-old man died at the scene.

A force spokesperson said: “Officers attended a property in Oakrise, Ormesby at around 7pm yesterday (Friday 7 April 2023) after receiving reports of concern for the safety of a man.

"Shortly after arriving at the property, a 54-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"A 47-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

“Officers remain at the scene while enquiries continue.”

Cleveland Fire Brigade attended and helped gain entry to the property.

North East Ambulance Service also attended the incident.

A spokesperson said: “We were called at 7.06pm to attend an incident at a private address in the Middlesbrough area.

“We dispatched a paramedic ambulance and a clinical team leader to the scene.”

A police cordon is in police and a forensic team in white suits have been seen entering a property.
