A North East woman has been charged after stealing gin from a Marks and Spencer while in possession of drugs.
Lisa Nichola Smith, aged 43 of Belle Vue Court in Middlesbrough, appeared before Teesside Magistrates Court on Monday, March 27 charged with the offence.
She was charged with stealing two bottles of gin and a jar of peanut butter to the value of £24 from Marks and Spence on Friarage Street in Northallerton.

Smith was also charged for being in possession of Zopiclone and Pergablin, a class C drug, while at Harrogate Police Station.
She was also charged with failing to surrender to court.
Smith pleaded guilty to the offences and was fined £120 for stealing, £40 for possession of drugs and £480 for failing to surrender leaving her with a total fine of £640.
