An appeal has been launched to help find a rare puppy which was stolen during an alleged burglary at a North East address last week.

Cleveland Police are appealing for more information after a Turkish Kangal puppy was stolen from an address on Beaumont Road, North Ormesby at around 10:45pm on Saturday (April 1).

The three-month-old dog, named Tank, reportedly had its collar removed and left inside the address.

The dog is described as having a short coat which is cream in colour with a black ‘mask’ around the face.

The dog is part of a rare breed, originally from Kangal in Turkey, where its name is derived, and is a large livestock guardian dog.

The breed can grown can reach up to 74-80cm in height and weigh between 50-60kg when fully grown.

Police have released images of Tank to the public and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

Anyone who may have witnessed anyone acting suspiciously in the Beaumont Road area on Saturday evening or anyone who may have seen Tank, or been offered him for sale, is asked to call 101 quoting reference number 061648.
