A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in a crash on Wednesday (April 5) night.
The man, aged 75, was pronounced dead despite the best efforts of emergency workers.
Police and ambulance crews rushed to the scene of the incident on the A196 in Morpeth, Northumberland at around 8.45pm on Wednesday.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene to assist police with enquiries. The family of the man who died have been notified and are being supported by specialist officers.
It comes after two teens lost their lives in an accident a short distance away on the same road just last month.
Mikey Easton, 16, and Riley Hedley, 17, were tragically killed in the early hours of Sunday March 12.

Police have now launched an investigation into the incident on Wednesday and are appealing for eyewitnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
Sergeant Seve Armstrong of Northumbria Police’s Motor Patrols department said: “This is a very sad outcome and our thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.

“Our investigation is underway and we are working hard to establish exactly what has happened. We’ve spoken with the driver and a number of witnesses so far, but if anyone else is able to help, please contact us.
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson added: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision on the A196 in Choppington at 8.40pm on Wednesday.
"We dispatched two ambulance crews, a specialist paramedic and a clinical team leader."
