A stately home wedding venue forced to close its doors during Covid will reopen its doors this summer after being taken over.

Lartington Hall in Barnard Castle shut its doors in March 2021, blaming the “continued uncertainty” of the pandemic.

The Grade II listed home went on the market last year for a whopping £3.8m and has been snapped up, with a reopening date set for this summer.

Posting on its Instagram Page, the County Durham venue said: “We’re super excited to announce we are reopening our doors again as part of the Apartment Group family!”

The Apartment Group owns wedding venues, pubs, clubs and restaurants across the region including Runa Farm in Barnard Castle, Newton Hall in Northumberland, As You Like It in Newcastle and bars on the city’s famous diamond strip.

Bosses say the new venue boasts “exquisite and tasteful interiors, super pretty gardens, and its very own private chapel”.

It also has 75 acres of parkland, 12 bedrooms, a ballroom, cinema room, and 17th century wing.

An exact opening date has not yet been announced.

The venue underwent an extensive restoration, modernisation and redecoration programme carried out between 2011 and 2015.
