Police have appealed for information after a man arrested on suspicion of assault in Newton Aycliffe was treated for hand injuries while in custody.
The incident happened on Vane Road, in Newton Aycliffe just before 6pm on Tuesday (March 28).
Officers found a man in Central Avenue and arrested him on suspicion of assault.
He was taken into custody where he also received treatment for injuries to his hands.

A Durham Police spokesperson said: "Just before 6pm last night (March 29) officers found a man in Central Avenue and arrested him on suspicion of assault.
"He was taken into custody where he also received treatment for injuries to his hands.
"Officers have continued conducting house-to-house enquiries in the area today, especially around Fowler Road, Vane Road and Creighton Road."
