Police are concerned for the welfare of a North East man who was last seen leaving a hospital.

The man, 61, was last seen leaving the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead at around 6.50pm on Monday (March 28) and spoke briefly to a family member on the phone.

However, he has not been seen or heard from since and police are growing “increasingly concerned” for his welfare.

Searches are ongoing to find him and ensure that he is safe and well.

Police are now asking anybody who thinks they may have seen him to get in touch.

Police believe he is wearing a black parker coat with fur around the hood and black trainers.

He is believed to be unsteady on his feet and may have facial bruising following a recent fall.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: “Anyone who has seen him, is asked to call 101 immediately quoting log NP-20230327-1258.”
