UK high street chains Greggs and Primark opened a third ‘Tasty by Greggs’ café yesterday (Wednesday March 22), located on the second floor of Primark’s Northumberland Street branch in Newcastle.

The new café follows the success of the first two ‘Tasty by Greggs’ café openings in 2022 in Primark’s largest store in Birmingham last February, and in the London flagship Oxford Street East store in October.

Similarly to the Birmingham and London cafés, the shop will feature social me interiors and backdrops, perfect for Instagram and TikTok feeds.

From Greggs’ humble beginnings back in Gosforth 1939, Newcastle has been hailed the home of Greggs and the opening of ‘Tasty by Greggs’ marks the thirteenth Greggs in Newcastle City Centre.

Visitors can expect a fun and unmistakably ‘Tasty by Greggs’ style interior with doughnut-inspired seating booths, a Sausage Roll swing, booths for dining under an iconic Tyne Bridge structure, an interactive Greggs phone box and vibrant décor.

The 114-seat café opened its doors in Primark’s Northumberland Street store from 12pm today, offering a menu of Greggs classics including sausage rolls, pasties, sweet treats, and Fairtrade freshly ground coffee.

The new shop will also range sharing size boxes of pizzas, iced lattes, and of course plenty of stotties.

Customers keen to grab and go can also skip the queues via Greggs Click + Collect using the Greggs App.

Tony Rowson, Property Director at Greggs, said: “Following the success of our first two ‘Tasty by Greggs’ cafes in Birmingham and London last year, the opening of our third café in Newcastle, the home of Greggs, marks another milestone moment for us as we continue to focus our efforts on new on-the-go locations where people work, shop and travel.”
