A man has been arrested after he crashed his car into a North East primary school before being arrested on the suspicion of drink driving.
The incident happened on Saturday (March 18) in the evening at The Avenue Primary School in Nunthorpe.
Police were seen at the scene to attend a “serious road traffic incident.”
Officers spotted significant damage to barriers and lighting to the rear of the school.

Police later revealed that a 27-year-old man had crashed into the primary school while under the influence of alcohol.
A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: “Police were called after a white BMW collided with the fence of a primary school in Nunthorpe.
“A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and charged to appear at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on 3rd April.”
