An assault in Wallsend saw a man approach a woman before punching her in the back of her head resulting in head injuries after she hit the floor.
The incident happened at around 2.10 am on Saturday, January 7 just outside of Manhattans Bar on High Street.
A woman aged 25 years old was approached by a man not known to her who proceeded to punch her in the back of the head.

This caused her to fall to the floor where she suffered bleeding and swelling to her face and nose as a result.
The man then fled on foot and the incident was later reported to the police.
An investigation was soon launched and a number of enquiries have been ongoing since the report was made.

Police have issued an image of a man they are looking to speak to in connection with the incident.
It is believed that he was in the area at the time of the incident and could have information which assists the investigation.
